FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Police in North Dakota's largest community are installing more surveillance cameras in the city's downtown area.

Fargo police say three additional cameras will be installed by late next week.

The Forum reports (http://bit.ly/127dcaW ) that three other surveillance cameras were set up in the area last fall in response to increased crimes such as graffiti tagging, property damage and fights.

Police Lt. Jeff Skuza says crime has gone down in the area since the first cameras were installed.

Police Chief Keith Ternes said he has no interest in mounting a camera on every street corner. He says police are only interested in placing cameras in areas where crime data suggest they could be useful.
