Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Sixth graders at Fargo's Carl Ben Eielson are showing their appreciation for people who make a difference in the community.

Today, they held a "Pushing the Edge" awards ceremony where students wrote letters about influential people in their lives, focusing on those who may not get enough credit. Students then voted on who they believed deserve the honor the most.

The top three in each class were nominated and came out for today's event to hear the sixth graders read their letters, a meaningful sign of their great appreciation.

Mianna Hager: “It's people that aren't on the news or in the newspaper and do good things for the community or anybody that you know I guess.”

Christopher Williams, Carl Ben Eielson 6th Grader: “It's really important to remember that people who don't get attention that make a difference.”

Nominees ranged from parents to Sheriff Laney.
