PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A McLaughlin man has pleaded not guilty in federal court to second-degree murder.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says 19-year-old Kendall White Tail was indicted by a grand jury earlier this month. Court documents say White Tail is accused of stabbing to death Charles White Tail on April 16 in McLaughlin, on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. A trial date was not immediately set.
Court documents do not say if the two White Tails are related, and neither the documents nor a statement from Johnson provide details about the case. A spokesman for Johnson's office did not immediately have additional details Friday.
