Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Detroit Lakes may soon see a new elementary school. With a growing population, school board members are looking at two sites for a new k through 3rd building, that will hold 1-thousand students.

The first is along North Tower Road near Highway 59. The second on Richwood Road, about a mile and a half north of the highway 34, Roosevelt intersection.

The new building would cost the average taxpayer about 10 to 20 dollars a month.

Doug Froke- Detroit Lakes Superintendent: "As we continue to experience moderate enrollment growth, which is our forecast, the building that we have will not suit what we have to have to deliver services to our kids."

The vote could come this November. No word yet on when construction could begin if it passes.
