(WDAY TV) -- It's been nearly a full year of waiting for the Bison baseball team and they're ready to wipe away some ugly postseason history.

The Summit League Tournament begins Thursday. NDSU enters as the 3 seed and will face tournament host Oakland. The Bison had to qualify this weekend just to make the field; not the resume of the preseason conference favorite. But they feel they're hitting their stride at just the right time; winners of six of their last seven games and three more wins and they will make program history.

Wes Satzinger, NDSU Jr. Baseman, says, "We're a team that's starting to come together; things are starting to click and go our way; had a lot of young guys this year this time of year everyone is experienced everyone had opportunities and failures; time to put it together I think we can show everyone we have the talent to get it done and work it out the next few

days."

Tod Brown says, "The biggest prize is still out there and that's a NCAA

Tournament berth; if we would have won regular season we would have won a watch; if we go 3-0 this weekend we get a ring and go to a regional biggest

prize out there and hopeful we play well."

This is the first time in 16 years someone other than Oral Roberts will win the Summit League baseball crown.
