Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The Fargo Moorhead community is teaming up to raise money for children on the other side of the world. All in honor of a boy who lost his life 20 years ago.

The Carson Glore Foundation held a benefit tonight in Fargo, 20 years after Carson lost his battle with cancer. The event is put on by one of Carson's early childhood friends from North Fargo Elementary, Nathan Nerland, and Nerland's mother.

It's not the groups first fundraising effort, work started years ago to raise money to build schools for children in Kenya, all in Carson's name. And Nerland hopes money from the 12-thousand dollars worth of donated silent auction items tonight.. Can help build their second school come January.

Nathan Nerland says, "even though it was 20 years ago, I think that now, to be able to carry on his legacy in a good way, making something really good out of something bad, I think is totally what he would've wanted. His family loves education and he and I loved being in elementary school together."

If you missed the benefit, you can donate online at the Carson Glore Foundation website, carsonglore.org.
