(WDAY TV) -- Over the last couple of years Jake Christiansen Stadium has undergone a make over at Concordia; from the new fieldturf on the football and baseball fields, to today's groundbreaking of the next step of the Update the Jake Project; the renovation of the football locker rooms.

This is the 3rd phase of the project that will cost 2.9 million that was raised by private donations and will house the football; women's soccer;

baseball and softball teams.

Larry Papenfuss, Former Concordia A.D., says, "On gamedays we dress our entire football squad. So, we had 130, 135 players dressing plus the visiting team with another 55 or so. We'd have about 200 players dressing in a facility that was designed to dress 70 people."

Terry Horan, Concordia Football Coach, says, "Our big gage this year was with our recruiting class. They knew that this locker room was going to be finishing. They love our field. They love the parking lots being paved. They see the commitment from administration to make this a priority. And we were able to land, what we feel, is probably one of the best recruiting classes we've had in recent history."

The construction on the project will last for 9 months; it will be ready for use at this time next year.
