Heavy rainfall sets records across North Dakota

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Heavy rain over the weekend set records in North Dakota.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Heavy rain over the weekend set records in North Dakota.

The National Weather Service says Bismarck, Dickinson, Jamestown, Minot and Grand Forks all set rainfall records for the date on Sunday, with an inch or more. Bismarck's record had stood since 1877.

Rain is continuing to fall, and the weather service has posted a flood watch for western and central North Dakota through Monday night. There is the potential for overland flooding and rises in some creeks and rivers.

Water covered Interstate 94 near Jamestown on Sunday and swept two semitrailers off the road. No injuries were reported. The water receded early Monday, but Transportation Department officials cautioned motorists that conditions could change rapidly.
