Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Some alarming numbers coming out of North Dakota public schools.

Officials say nearly 3-quarters of the school districts failed to meet annual federal education standards.

That means 126 of the 177 districts, failed to meet the goals for math or reading, did not have enough participation in testing or showed substandard graduation rates.

Fargo schools superintendent Jeff Schatz says schools will continue to fail because proficiency requirements keep increasing, and the law needs to be changed.
