Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- The start of a huge running weekend got going tonight outside the Fargodome with the 5 K race; which totalled nearly 9,000 that signed up for the race.

No doubt they were all grateful for the overcast skies and the nearly 30 degree temperature difference from last year.

There was one similiarity from last year; a former Dragon took the title; Adam Kne emerged from the pack and cruised home to the title in a time of

16 minutes and 18 seconds; and tonight is the start of a busy weekend.

Adam Kne- Fargo Marathon 5K Winner: "I had this planned for awhile, I'm actually doing the 10K tomorrow too. So that should be pretty fun."

Tell me about the race today and how it unfolded for you?

Kne: "It's a little warmer than I thought it was going to be. The wind was nice, it actually calmed down a little bit. Going into it I felt fine, I knew I was going to do this and I felt prepared for it. It's always fun when you have a huge group of people cheering you in."

Kennedy Rude takes the women's 5 K. We've got a great day of coverage tomorrow; join Jeff Kolpack, Eric Peterson and I on our live blog on inforum.com at 7 am tomorrow; I'll be in the pace car for highlights from the course and we'll recap it all at 6 and 10.
