Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Quite the site outside of Scheels Home and Hardware this afternoon.

Take a look at this video of a 4,000 pound truck hanging only by seatbelt webbing material. The North Dakota DOT sponsored the event to raise awareness about seatbelt safety.

Organizers say the message is, if a seatbelt is strong enough to hold this truck, it's strong enough to hold you.

Students who won an essay contest about seatbelt safety were on hand to spread their message.

Jacob Gallagher, Lisbon High School: “I witnessed this crash and it just isn’t pretty to not wear your seatbelt, so every time I get in the car I wear my seatbelt. So if anyone ever gets a ride with me they wear their seatbelt. Lead by example I guess.”

Last year, 65 percent of traffic fatalities in North Dakota were unbelted.
