Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Area law enforcement gathered to pay tribute to the men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Federal, state, and local officers all came together at Lindenwood Park in Fargo for Law Enforcement Memorial Day.

Through song, prayer, and a gun salute they honored the 120 officers who died last year while serving communities all over the country.

North Dakota did not lose anyone, but Minnesota lost Cold Springs police officer Tom Decker. Today's ceremony in Fargo was dedicated to him.

Judge Lisa Fair-McEvers, East Central District Court: “The officers lost their lives in many various ways, but they all had this in common, they died wearing a badge, doing their duty, serving and protecting the public. In doing so, they made the ultimate sacrifice for the wellbeing of us all.”

Eighteen canines also died last year in the line of duty.
