Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Fargo's Salvation Army is giving back to everyone who has helped out. In a tasty way. The Salvation Army, with help from Sandy's Donuts, gave away free homemade donuts for its annual donut day celebration.

The Salvation Army is known for its "Donut Girls" who served these same treats during World War I and II. And today, volunteers dressed up and handed out donuts made from that same recipe.

A yummy way to thank everyone who made their work possible through volunteer time and donations.

Laura Spahr- Salvation Army Volunteer Coordinator: "Why we do it here in Fargo Moorhead is we just want to invite all of our volunteers, donors, just community members because we just want to thank everyone for all their partnership that we have with them."

This past year, the Salvation Army has served more than 17-thousand different people.
