Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- An early morning accident outside of Barnesville brought in law enforcement from two counties, and Red River Valley Water rescuers. Authorities say a man crashed his car into the water, and told them someone else was driving.

As you can see there are deep and swerving tire tracks showing signs

of a vehicle going into this slough southeast of Barnesville.

Rick Fiedler- Wilkin County Sheriff: "A car submerged in our county. They have one in custody and the person that they have in custody was claiming that there was another person in the vehicle."

This was the scene just after 7:30 this morning, when authorities

say Daniel Lyman drove his car into the water and was found wandering around nearby.

Clay and Wilkin County law enforcement arrived with valley river water

rescue to search for the other person Lyman claimed to be the driver,

but found nothing.

Fiedler: "It can be a scary situation absolutely. It was about approximately a half hour later that we learned the individual he was claiming was driving or in the vehicle was in Fargo and had not been with him.

Lyman was arrested on an unrelated warrant and faces additional driving citations.

Authorities say alcohol did play a factor in the accident.
