Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- A local church that has actively supported marriage equality expects to see more same-sex weddings.
Pastor Mark Pettis of First Congregational United Church of Christ says he is pleased with the bill's passage.
The church has performed ceremonies for same-sex couples for several years.
They expect more of that now that the legal recognition exists.
Pastor Mark Pettis- First Congregational UCC: "Whether or not you're involved actively with a church, there is still some remaining idea that when you get married, you get married in a church. To be told you can't get married for so long and now to have that right to get legally married, I think we will see more people wanting to come in and do ceremonies."
We tried to contact several other Moorhead church leaders, but those we called were unable to comment.
