Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The unseen side of how Fargo Moorhead once was is now on full display at the Hjemkomst center.

A new exhibit completed by a group of NDSU students is called, "Taboo Fargo-Moorhead, An Unmentioned History." It shows the sinister side of life in the area, from 1871, when both towns were founded, to 1935, when prohibition ended.

From prostitution, to divorce, to the KKK, nothing was off limits. Organizers say this exhibit shows the unexpected side of the twin towns during the time period.

Angela Smith, Asst. Prof. of History, says, "to understand historically, how this played, it's not the stereotypes, it's outside of the stereotypes, what does this exhibit do? It instructs, to tell you how it's different."

The exhibit will be at the Hjemkomst center all summer, and will be on display at Bonanzaville in the Fall.
