Officer, Employees of Spirit Lake Tribe Plead Not Guilty to Embezzlement, Theft

One officer and two employees of the Spirit Lake Tribe have plead not guilty to all charges against them.
Carl Walking Eagle, 69, and Patricia Robertson, 52, are charged with embezzlement and theft from an Indian tribal organization. Brooke Lynette Black is also accused of those charges, along with a charge of making false statements.
Black is an employee with the Spirit Lake food distribution program. Robertson is a coordinator for the low income home energy assistance program. Walking Eagle is an officer of the Spirit Lake Tribe.
The maximum sentence for embezzlement and theft from an Indian tribal organization is five years in prison.
The cases are being investigated by the FBI.
