Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Senators in Washington today heard first-hand about why they should support and fund an F-M diversion.

North Dakota Senator John Hoeven today pushed for authorization of the diversion as part of the Water Resources Development Act.

He says the diversion would actually save the government money. Hoeven says the 2009 flood cost $50 million.

The Corps of Engineers says a 500 year flood in the F-M area could cause more than $10 billion in damage.
