Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - New information tonight on a barn fire in rural Cass County.

A passing farmer reported the fire at 9302 25th St. South just after 3:30. A Cass County deputy found a barn fully engulfed and was able to rescue three horses inside and get them to safety. No injuries were reported.

Hegel said the 36-by-60-foot barn is a total loss. Equipment including a skidsteer inside the barn was destroyed.

String wind gusts up to 30 miles an hour made the fire difficult to fight.

Ryan Hegel, Horace Fire Chief: “Took our operation hand lines and protected the building to the south here to keep it from spreading any farther. There was three horses in the building the deputies got them out right away.”

Investigators are still trying to figure out what started the blaze.
