Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Parents who think their special needs child can't run in the Fargo Marathon Youth Run; think again.

Pediatric Therapy Partners has teamed up with the Fargo Marathon to make sure kids of all abilities feel welcome.

The half-mile and one-mile courses have always been open to all children up to age 12, but they hope to increase participation among special needs kids this year.

Brian Borchardt, Pediatric Therapy Partners: "We want to make sure that kids of all abilities are included in activities together. And then, just getting an early lifestyle of physical fitness is really important for kids with disabilities as well."

Adults can walk with children, and volunteers will also be on hand to help children get to the finish line.
