(WDAY TV) -- The bill to make same-sex marriage legal in Minnesota is getting a last-minute committee hearing in the House.

The Ways and Means Committee is reviewing the legislation after an analysis showed a small impact on Minnesota's general fund. If gay marriage becomes legal, 114 state employees would enroll in state benefits for their partners. That would cost the state about $688-thousand dollars a year. But it would be partly offset by about $190-thousand from same-sex marriage licenses.

Rep. Lyndon Carlson, Ways and Means Committee says, "You would have that bump at the beginning. The number of couples who have been waiting would get married fairly soon. And then it would taper off to a normal level."

A vote in the full House or Senate could happen as early as this week.
