Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- A Concordia graduate who gained international attention in 2009 for her arrest and imprisonment in Iran came home to speak at graduation today.

Roxana Saberi graduated from the college in 1997. She addressed nearly 600 students at today's ceremony. Saberi was invited to speak at Concordia's graduation in 2009, but was in Iran's Evin prison at that time.

Back then, many students and faculty wore yellow ribbons to the ceremony in support.

Saberi says, "If not for the support of the Concordia community, other friends, and even total strangers around the world, I might still be in Evin prison today instead of here, at Concordia, where my adult life began."

Saberi is currently working on a second book, as well as advocating for human rights around the world.
