Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Tomorrow brings us one of the great sporting events on the calendar; the Kentucky Derby.

And to get ready for that, WDAY 6's Trevor Peterson went to the local OTB in Fargo to find out the best way to pick a winner in the Run for the Roses.

Trevor Peterson: I'd like to bet on the Kentucky Derby...

What's your best betting tip? "Stay Home, probably would be good for me...dont' go there expecting your gonna leave with more money than you came with."

Best piece of advice you've ever gotten about betting? "Just bet small...don't try to get even on one bet....don't always go with the favorites..quickest way to the poorhouse is always bet on the favorites....extreme favorites don't always win. A horse that's 10-1 doesn't know that he can't win the race....maybe mix in a long shot or two.”

How do you feel about betting on longshots? “It's good, real good. Many people overlook a horse that's 17 or 18-1.”

How do you feel about betting solely on the name of the horse? Oh I like that. For example, there's a horse called Overanalyze. And that's what I do every day of my life....There's gonna be a couple of mudders in the field.

Do you like mudders? “Oh yeah, I've won a few races with mudders.”

How long you've been betting Frank? “Oh, too long.”

Do you care to share what your biggest win has been in your horse betting career? “I don't really have any big wins to my career so it's kind of just...donate.”

Dom, eat your heart out. These are winners.
