USD hands NDSU it's first league loss, 5-1

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- The machine that is the Bison softball team finally got to play on it's home diamond this afternoon; and with a perfect sense of timing had a chance to clinch a 2nd straight Summit League crown with a win.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- The machine that is the Bison softball team finally got to play on it's home diamond this afternoon; and with a perfect sense of timing had a chance to clinch a 2nd straight Summit League crown with a win.

Hosting South Dakota; trying to snap NDSU's 15 game winning streak.

Darren Mueller's Bison strike in the bottom of the first, Amanda Grable drives a single down the left-field line, Cheyenne Garcia comes into score for a 1-0 Bison lead.

But that lead ends in the 3rd, USD loads the bases with one out, Garcia fields this soft hit, but her throw home sails over the catcher's head. Katie Cochran and Lindsey Boyd score for a 2-1 Coyotes lead.

That was enough for Coyotes ace Ericka Denney, the Bison get a runner to third in the 6th, but Denney fans Maritza Lopez-Portillo for the final out.
