Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - You've probably noticed a lot of trash around town, especially after such a long winter.
The City of Fargo hopes you can not only spend time making your own home look nice during clean up week, but the entire community.
Right now there is everything from beer bottles, plastic bags, and empty coffee cups littering fields, parks, and neighborhoods.
In some of these areas a specific person isn't designated to clean up, and that’s where the communities help comes in. Volunteers are being asked to help spruce up Fargo.
Ryan Erickson, Fargo Fire: “The areas we are looking at are like the bike paths and the schools, church yards. It's a lot of areas that get litter that blows into them.”
If you have a group who would like to help you can call Ryan Erickson with the Fargo Fire Department at 701-241-1311. He will schedule your group a specific area. He says this important to make sure some areas don't get missed.
Erickson: “If you have a civic group that you want to get together or even just your neighborhood that wants to get together and clean up the public areas in your neighborhood then you can do that and contact us, and we'll make sure areas aren't just being duplicated.”
If you don't have anything to put the garbage in, not to worry. You can pick up free bags at any fire station around town.
After filling bags, you can leave tied bags at an intersection or boulevard for the city to pick up.
