Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Great Plains Food Bank is celebrating 30 years of helping neighbors in need.

North Dakota's only food bank opened in 1983. In those 30 years, they've supplied more than 100 million meals to children, seniors, and families in need.

To help them continue that trend, C.H.S. Inc. presented them with a check for more than

$126,000.

Steve Sellent, Great Plains Food Bank Director: "We can get four meals out for every dollar that we get because most of our food is donated so our costs are low. So, when I look at that, my math is not all that great but that says half a million meals to me, right there. Half a million meals for children, seniors. So, thank you so much."

To kick off their next 30 years, the food bank plans to add and expand several programs over the next year. One will be a summer lunch program for children.
