HANKINSON, N.D. – Authorities say alcohol was a factor in a rollover crash Tuesday night south of Hankinson.
According to a news release from the Richland County Sheriff’s Office:
A pickup was traveling south on County Road 21 when the driver failed to negotiate a curve and the pickup went into a slough and rolled.
Both the driver, Tyson Stevens, 29, of Mooreton, and passenger, Jeremiah Medenwald, 30, of Wahpeton, were able to get out of the pickup.
Medenwald walked to a nearby farm and called for help. First responders searched for Stevens until he was found at a farm four miles south of the crash site.
LifeFlight helicopter airlifted Medenwald to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo for his injuries. Stevens was taken to St. Francis Healthcare Campus in Breckenridge, Minn., for unknown injuries.
Criminal charges are pending, the sheriff’s office said.
