Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- You can call it a construction boom in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Take a look around and most places you'll see new homes being built.
Whether you're looking for a starter home or a multi-million dollar mansion, the options are endless - and for you and I in the middle, there's plenty to choose from.
Instead of vegging on your couch and watching HGTV, the parade of homes gives you a chance to see everything up close and personal.
Tyrone Leslie- President and Owner of Heritage Homes: "We're seeing oaks coming back now, they want the dark oaks, they want to see the grains. White trim is big, it's coming back, fiercly big."
Whether it's a home theatre in your basement or an open concept kitchen and living area, these are just some of the popular trends.
With multiple developments to choose from - Tyrone Leslie, President and Owner of Heritage Homes says the prices are consistent with other markets.
Leslie: You look at interest rates being in the mid 4's outstanding, you look at the property credits out there right now and not just west fargo and fargo, but also moorhead, people want to take advantage of that.
So what's the average price of a new construction home?
Leslie: Realistically 2 to 4 hundred thousand dollars, will probably be your average. Anything less than that you're probably taking things out to keep it at that price point and anything above that is probably stuff you don't necessarily need, but you'll want.
Most average homes are more than outfitted with the basic necessities.
Leslie: What you can expect is 3 bedrooms, triple car garage anywhere from 17 to 22 hundred square feet up to 25-26 square feet for a 2 story.
If you find your dream home, Leslie says to make the leap and purchase it. With such a boom in construction, the homes are going fast, and in fact more people are looking to build, than there are available lots.
From 3D customizable plans, buying a home is nothing like it was in the past.
If nothing else, all of this news is good for the economy.
