Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- A Fargo puppy is breathing easy after a flood fight of his own. 11-month old Chuckie, a lab, escaped from his owner and wound up on the east side of the Lindenwood dike.

Men from the Army Corps of Engineers were busy building the dike, when they noticed him run over the top.

Luckily, he wound up in good hands, before the heavy equipment, or high water got in his way.

And his owner says he's thankful things didn't end up worse.

Paul Machakewski- Army Corps of Engineers: "He was small and he's full of energy and constantly moving, so we needed to get him out of there and we didn't want him anywhere near the equipment."

Timothy Murphy- Puppy Owner: "Well one is always nervous, his great uncle, Feeny, one of my earlier labs, was also a great escape artist."

Murphy says he plans to build a higher fence so Chuckie doesn't get out again.
