Wyndmere, ND (WDAY TV) -- North Dakota is now the second state in the country to take its meat products, international.

It's called the Interstate Shipment program, operated by the USDA and Department of Agriculture in North Dakota. It allows local meat shops, like Bridgemart Meats in Wyndmere, to sell and ship their meats all over the U-S and Canada.

Before, this wasn't possible. They were only able to do business within the state.

Ted Mauch with Bridgemart Meats says, "it, it could double our income, easily. And we've only gotta go thirty to forty miles to do that."

Right now, Bridgemart Meats does business with about 3 stores, but that could soon expand.
