Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- A short of volunteers plagued the Oakcreek neighborhood this afternoon.
Only about 30 people turned out to finish sandbagging two homes. That included the engineers and fire fighters.
This dike will protect neighbors from drain 27, which meets the Red River.
Volunteers will build the levee to a 40 foot elevation level.
Mark Miller, City Engineer, says, "This is going to be a big sink of human time and bags because we are actually going to be building to a level of about four feet. And that's really, we're getting to the limit of what you want to do with sandbags."
Engineers say they'll be working to save the neighborhood, as long as it takes them to complete the dike.
