Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- So far, so good for sandbagging in Fargo. City officials say they've accomplished a lot in the last few days.

Over 11 thousand sandbags were thrown along Riverside Drive to complete the dike. Today, fire fighters and volunteers are pitching in to stack another 16 thousand bags in the Oakcreek neighborhood. After that, there's not very much left to do.

Capt. Randy Weiss with the Fargo Fire Dept. says, "all we have to do is button up Oakcreek over there today, And I know they're working downtown with those clay dikes on second street. As far as I know, that's probably about it for the city."

All construction is coming to a close just in time for the river to crest mid next week.
