Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Crews have been going non-stop today, deploying sangbags.
First stop, the northside.
As you can see. The scene here at Fargo's compost site is a busy, yet efficient one. With trucks running in and out by the hour, not stopping until they get these bags delivered.
Trying to get out more than 370-thousand sandbags by the end of the day.
It's that ongoing, springtime process.
Jason Abel- Fargo Police Officer: "This isn't anything new for them"
With trucks cycling in,
Crews picking up the pallets.
And drivers, securely strapping them down.
Abel: "We're on the move"
All to make way for conveys carrying sandbags, running single file while clearing traffic.
Abel: "this is just the fastest, the quickest and least intrusive on traffic."
Making sure to get protection out there before the water takes over.
Allison Kenninger- Riverwood Resident: "I guess we're really thankful"
Riverwood is one of the first stops on the list. It's getting a huge chunk of the stock pile.
Kenninger: "In '09 it was just a pile of sand every once in a while that we'd get and we're out there filling our own bags."
So when they're already filled. These bags lift weight off the shoulders.. Of those who have to fight the hardest.
Kenninger:"it's a little disheartening not knowing what the crest predictions are going to be and when it's going to come."
But thanks to the city, when it comes, they'll now be ready.
Kenninger: "It's reassuring to know they're here and it's done."
Now these trucks will continue running until about 8 o'clock tonight.
And drivers will be back bright and early tomorrow.
