Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Even so, sandbag deployment in Fargo is well underway.
Crews are working fast to get out thousands of bags each day. Still planning to prepare for 43 feet of protection.
I'm here at Fargo's compost site where trucks have been running full speed since early this morning, and they don't plan to stop until about 8 tonight.
The convoys, made up of four trucks and two police cars, are carrying thousands of bags to neighborhoods in North Fargo. Trying to deliver more than 370,000 bags just today, with 185 different truck loads.
We road along with one convoy. Heading to the Riverwood neighborhood north of the airport.
Once trucks arrived, it was a matter of minutes until crews were able to unload all of the bags for neighbors living nearby.
Jason Abel- Fargo Police Officer: "Try to avoid as many stop lights as possible, any areas in town that we know are highly congested this time of day. This is just the fastest, the quickest, the least intrusive on traffic."
Allison Kenniger- Riverwood Resident: "I guess we're really thankful for the work and the sandbags."
The city delivered sandbags to more than five different neighborhoods today. Most of the bags are going to Woodcrest. Where officials say protection is needed the most.
