Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- After a somewhat slower Saturday, Sandbag Central is in need of more afternoon walk-up volunteers. The city set the goal of 500-thousand bags in just five days.

Production went well Thursday and Friday of last week, but over the weekend seemed to slow down, as Saturday marked one of the worst days for volunteer turnout yet.

Today students from Fargo South helped fill bags, and officials believe they'll still have enough to secure the city.

Steve Dirksen, with the Fargo Police says, "so right now we have 1.35 million bags ready to go, ready to be deployed when we need them so that's kind of where.. We're right on pace for our goals. We've got volunteers here at Sandbag Central through Wednesday."

Sandbag deployment in Fargo begins tomorrow.
