Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A Native American artist is giving his take on Andy Warhol's print series of "Cowboys and Indians."

Joseph Allen spoke at the Plains Art Museum tonight, which currently features an Andy Warhol exhibit. Allen created two images in response to Warhol's "Cowboys and Indians."

In the images, he challenges people to question perceptions of Native Americans in art and culture.

Joseph Allen, Artist: "His work just kind of scratches down that surface. I tried to go a little deeper. Just show that we're still seeing these images out there, being used to sell things, being used to promote things."

The Warhol exhibit, along with Allen’s response art, is open to the public now.
