Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - We told you yesterday how the spring weather has decimated the North Dakota High School schedule; it's also done a number on the local college schedule.
The MIAC announced today a re-formatted baseball schedule, where they still try to play all 20 conference games, meaning that each team will play a doubleheader against everybody. The Cobbers have not played a game since April 7th and this new schedule will certainly tax their pitchers.
Bucky Burgau, Concordia Head Coach: “I'm not worried about starting pitching. What I'm worried about is our bullpen. My big concern is our bullpen won't be able to run out there for three double headers in three days it's just not going to happen I don't think. Now playing two games on Monday, two games on Tuesday and two games on Thursday, so are we going to ask our closer to pitch five out of those six games? Probably not because we don't want to hurt him. So our bullpen is a big part of what we do and that is my biggest concern with playing so many games in a short period of time.”
The Cobbers are tentatively scheduled to host Bethel this Saturday.
