Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Bison defense has been the best in the country the last two years thanks to the depth that NDSU has been able to stack up in certain positions.

One of those spots is being tested this spring, and that's cornerback as NDSU tries to replace senior Andre Martin with two sophomores. Jordan Champion and CJ Smith each saw the field last year; mostly on special teams; and while they play the same position, they say they're different players.

Jordan Champion, NDSU Sophomore Cornerback: “We all have different qualities like CJ is a real good finesse player and so is Brandon. I like to bang my head a little bit, so we do have similarities but there is also key differences.”

CJ Smith, NDSU Sophomore Cornerback: “We definitely have fun with it but also we encourage each other every day. We are all out here to get better and to keep winning as a team. I want to get a better knowledge of the position, get all the plays down and be able to be thrown at in the game at any time. Just be ready for whatever.”
