Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A new flood forecast has Fargo officials stepping up flood plans. They're now just days away from building dikes.
Beginning this Monday, city crews will work to build the first clay levees, after the additional snowfall and increased flood predictions.
One of the first will run down the center of Oak Street, just south of 11th Avenue North and will be about nine feet high.
Another will run along Lindenwood Drive South, with about eight feet of protection.
April Walker, Fargo City Engineer: “This time of the year, we don't know when the deterministic is coming, but we think we should get moving, and we were authorized to do this, so that's what we're doing. We're getting out there and starting to get things moving.”
Walker says they will also be doing a walk-through of the city this weekend. To figure out where and when snow removal in town should happen.
