Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Sandbag Central has reopened with a new goal: another half million bags in five days.

That means volunteers will have to make 100,000 bags each day. The first helpers to stop by were 300 students from Fargo North.

Volunteers are asked to come between two and seven, and shuttles are still running on the same schedule.

The need for more sandbags came after yesterday's updated crest prediction of 39-41 feet by the National Weather Service.

Bruce Grubb, Fargo Enterprise Director: “When these new predictions come out and it looks more and more like we might be in for a record the sense of urgency gets raised. Just as a south side resident in Fargo my sense of urgency has raised.”

To volunteer to help out at sandbag central, you can call 476-4000.

Cass County is asking homeowners to clear snow from areas where levees and sandbags will go. Crews will begin to deliver sandbags to rural homes this weekend.
