Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The quest for the Clark Cup began tonight for the Fargo Force on home ice facing off against Waterloo, the highest scoring team in the USHL, but the Force had success against the Blackhawks during the regular season, winning four of five games.

Force trailed 1-0 in the 2nd, but turned the game here. Alex Lafallo rips the shot. Rebound comes right to Gabe Guertler. He bangs in the goal. We're tied at 1.

A little more than 4 minutes later, Fargo strikes again. Guertler with the long shot, perfect rebound right to Dave Gust. Force up 2-1 after 2.

But the Blackhawks answer in the 3rd, on the power play. Taylor Cammarata scores. Waterloo with 2 power play goals tonight, game is tied at 2.

It stayed that way until minute and a half to go. Austin Ortega gets alone and scores. That's your game winner folks. Force win it 3-2.

Ortega the hero; as the Force hold serve on their home ice to take game 1 in the best of five series.

Austin Ortega, Scored Game Winning Goal: “As far as my career I'd say it was the biggest goal because I haven’t been this far in playoffs at this high a level, so I'd say this is the biggest one so far.”

Dave Gust, Scored Goal Tonight: “It's big to get that first one, know you can beat them makes it that much easier to play with more confidence and keep the wins coming.”

Force improve to 8-0 all time at home in the 1st round of the Clark Cup playoffs. Game 2 is slated for 7:30 on Friday.
