Snow making sports frustrating for North Dakota high school teams

West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - With the additional snow we received earlier this week it's almost a certain bet that the North Dakota High School spring season won't begin much before May 1st, meaning just a month of games for baseball, softball and track before tournament season and West Fargo's AD Curt Jones believes that's just not enough time.

He submitted a request to the North Dakota Activities Association to consider moving the state softball, baseball and soccer tournaments back two weeks from its June 1st date.

Curt Jones, West Fargo Athletic Director: “If the weather is going to continue the way it is we're only going to get a couple weeks of the season in and then regions and state tournaments. Not fair to our kids to have an abbreviated season and it may not be healthy for kids if we're going to crunch in a number of games before region tournaments, state tournaments. Schools, superintendents, school boards, communities set their calendars on those dates it will be difficult. Lot of resistance to move those.”

The board members from the association will discuss this proposal at its next meeting coming this Tuesday in Valley City.
