Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - Ominous words from the National Weather Service. They say Fargo now has a 50 percent chance of hitting 40 feet.
This after heavy snow last week and a snowpack in the basin that has seen little melting. WDAY's Kevin Wallevand has just left a briefing at the National Weather Service Office in Grand Forks
Fargo is looking at its latest crest on the red since 1897. But look for some movement in the rivers this coming weekend.
But on top of recent heavy snow and more snow expected in the next few days, National Weather Service Official say there's a good chance we could hit 40 feet in Fargo by the end of April.
Greg Gust talks about what we need in the coming days.
Greg Gust, National Weather Service: “Warming up into the 40s, still some overnight freezing, no precipitation whatsoever and we're still going to have a big flood.”
