Perfect snowman weather in April

(WDAY TV) -- One thing is for sure. It has been perfect "snowman" weather. And social media has been exploding with pictures of Spring's winter wonderland.

At Ellen Hopkins elementary in Moorhead, recess was all about the snow. Rolling the wet, sticky, perfect spheres of snow to make their own Frosty.

Only kids could find this extended winter laughable.

"It is cool, but we want it to be spring, spring because winter and snow has been here a long time."

Social media today was packed with pictures of snowmen that went up overnight. Local teenagers in beach chairs, from out west, a reminder we might have snow, but no hurricanes.

Others, tired of winter, turned this snowman on his head, some went above and beyond, turning their deck into a summer picnic, the table surrounded by snowmen.

With some schools closed, cartoons were all over Facebook with sarcastic winter humor. Snoopy, for one. Lucy, well it's been one of those Mondays. Some predict our fishing opener may be on ice. Or least, icy.

College neighborhoods near MSUM, Concordia and NDSU all hosted snowmen that poked fun at our late storm. The snow couldn't be more perfect for the build. However, some used the snowman to request a trip to Florida.

In Lisbon, the snow is too deep for this penguin, and BBQ grills and patios, will have to wait even longer for stean and ale. And its no snowman, but the hero today on Facebook has to be North Dakota rancher Jordan Hausauer rescuing a calf at the height of our spring blizzard.

And this good reminder from our friends at Bonanzaville on Facebook.

Imagine our pioneer ancestors here in the valley a hundred years ago. Surviving winter storms on the open plains without the technology to warn them at all.
