North Dakota (WDAY TV) -- Thanks to the snow, procrastinators in North Dakota have more time to file their taxes.

Senator John Hoeven says the IRS agreed to his request of an extension, and waive penalties for filing tax returns. He says people across the state are still digging out, and may need more time because of the weather.

The relief applies to late filing penalty, normally 5-percent per month, and the late payment penalty, normally 0.5 percent per month.

Officials say once you're dug out, you need to get your taxes in, at a reasonable time.
