BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — It's April 15 — the deadline to file taxes. North Dakota Tax Commissioner Cory Fong says his office at the state Capitol will be open until 9 p.m. to accommodate last-minute filers.

Fong says keeping the office open four extra hours will enable more taxpayers to get answers to last-minute questions, and will accommodate people dropping off their state return in person.

The north door of the Capitol building will be open until 9 p.m. Monday. The Tax Department office is on the 16th floor.

State Capitol offices aren't opening until noon, however, because of the Sunday snowstorm. And Sen. John Hoeven says the Internal Revenue Service has agreed to extend the deadline for filing tax returns in North Dakota, and waive penalties for late returns, because of the storm.
