Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- The American Crystal Sugar lockout is over, 55-percent of union members voted today to ratify the contract.

It had been rejected in 4 previous votes, and though the offer didn't change - each vote got closer to the deal.

The first vote back in 2011, saw 96-percent of the union members reject the contract.

There were signs today that workers were changing their stance.

John Riskey: BCTGM Local 167G President: "It gets to be tough for people to find ways to put food on the table for their family and to put up the struggle. But, I'm very proud of the people and what they've done, to hold out 20 months and fight as hard as they have."

And this is what Riskey had to say tonight.

Riskey: "This means crystal sugar's skilled, experienced workers will be transitioning back to the factories to start repairing the damage that's been done over the past 20 plus months."
