Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A travel alert is out for Fargo, Jamestown, Valley City, Wahpeton, Hillsboro and surrounding areas. Roads are icy, and heavy, blowing snow is reducing visibility.

The wet, heavy snow that fell on the area this morning caused a lot of slipping and sliding on roads in town and out here on the Interstate. But even though it has stopped now, as temperatures drop that could freeze on roads.

This fender bender in Moorhead on 48th avenue was just one of several in the area today. There were also about 300 accidents on Minnesota roads and 400 cars in the ditch.

State Trooper Jesse Grabow says now is not the time to put away the ice scrapers or retire winter driving skills.

Sgt. Jesse Grabow, Minnesota State Patrol: "When you look at the number of crashes, even for the other storms we had this winter that ranks right up there with activity. So, it shows you that a lot of people maybe didn't retain those good winter driving skills when it was only a matter of just a few weeks ago that we had our last one."
