Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - They are known as the Rams, the guys who don't get a lot of attention, but without them NDSU's streak of 12 straight 1,000 yard rushers would never have happened. It's the offensive line.
The Bison bring back four starters up front for next season but it's a redshirt freshman that's starting to make some waves, Kindred product Jack Plankers who's all of 6'7, 301 pounds.
Plankers spent the season working on the scout team and also adding more muscle to an already impressive frame and now is working alongside All-American Billy Turner in an effort to get ready.
Jack Plankers, NDSU Redshirt Fr. Offensive Lineman: “First off it's an honor to play with guys like that. Great guys help out the younger kids, don't get that in Kindred, not very often. To be playing next to someone like that is an honor, want to make my case, really just make my case like working hard and get more and more into the program get more comfortable and just hope get my name into consideration for next fall.”
Plankers is getting looks at both tackle and guard. NDSU needs to replace three year starter Joe Lund at center. The first scrimmage of the spring is on Saturday.
