Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Tonight's flood protection meeting got heated in the Oak Creek neighborhood.

Residents said a first round buyout turned out to be "pointless."

Fargo city commissioners backed out of their original plan of building a levee, and some homeowners are pleading with the city not to tear down their homes. Others are just hoping for a quick decision.

John Breiland- Oak Creek Resident: "We need the commission to make a decision in two months. So that, June, July, August, September, they can take care of the problem."

Residents along the creek say they are willing to sandbag one more year, but say they need a more permanent option.
